Terror Alert Level

Sunday, July 11, 2004

My trip back to Phoenix was rather eventful. I never would of thought that my flight from Salt Lake to Phoenix would get canceled.

My first flight from Great Falls to Salt Lake was nice. The plane was probably only half full, so I had two seats to myself with is perfect. I got to Salt Lake about an hour and a half before my next flight was suppose to take off. I sat down for a while. Then as I was about to go wonder the wonderful airport, they announced that my flight was canceled.

I was stunned and I had not idea what was going on. I checked in with the person at the desk. They gave me a voucher for a room at the Comfort Inn and two meal vouchers totaling $14. I asked what happened and they said that the plane the flight was going to use was stuck in Boise, ID with a broken window (the front window for the pilot). Apparently it takes about 10 hours or more to replace a broken window.

Anyway, I had to get my bags that were checked. I'm really glad I was able to get my bags, because I was dumb and didn't carry my medicine with me on the plane. From now on, I will have extra clothes and my medicine in my carry one. After about an hour of waiting on the luggage. I was able to catch a courtesy van to the hotel. This was the nicest Comfort Inn that I have ever been in.

It had a restaurant and a pool and hot tub outside. I used my meal vouchers on dinner. I had lasagna and cheesecake. It was yummy. Anyway, the room I was given was great. It had a king size bed which is as wide as I am tall. I've never slept in a bed that big before. Along with that there was still room for a small sofa which folded out into a bed.

There was free internet access, which I took full advantage of. I almost wrote this post yesterday, but I decided to wait. Anyway, after all the excitement was over it was time to go to bed. However, I could not sleep. All I could think about was having to get up and get on the plane. Since I've never had to check in at the SLC-airport, I didn't know what to expect. Over the whole night, I probably got about 3 hours of sleep.

I got up about for good at 7 am. Took a shower in one of the biggest showers I've seen in a hotel. I then got dressed and at breakfast at the free buffet. This buffet wasn't just bagels and cereal. It had real breakfast food. Of course, I didn't really enjoy the food, because the lack of sleep and stress made for an upset stomach. After this, I checked out and caught the van at 9 am and headed to the airport.

After arriving at the airport things went smoothly. I wondered throughout the stores while waiting to board. Once on board, I was pleasantly surprise to find out that the plane had tvs. I got to watch "According to Jim" and some news show with a special about Billy Ray Cyrus. I don't know if I spelled his name right, but he sang that song "Achy Breaky Heart". That song is extremely annoying.

After getting here, Kendra and I went to Baja Fresh, my favorite fast food down here. After I got my stuff put away, It was time for a trip to Albertson's and then I took an hour nap. Oh how nice it is to do nothing. Anyway, I've got to get to bed. I'm exhausted. I'll talk to ya'll laters.
